Quote Challenge Day 3

“Game Over.”

As Billy in the image that shows up if you are reading this from your reader so aptly shows I am going to be taking a quote from Jigsaw of the SAW universe. I’m quite sure by now many if not all of you know about SAW and you might be wondering why I would use this quote for day 3 (The Final Day) of this challenge? Well kind soul, allow me a chance to tell you why. (I promise, this one isn’t preachy). πŸ˜‰

The above quote holds a very close place to my heart because without this franchise, or that line, my life would have been completely different. Ironically SAW is the reason I have my beautiful wife and the reason my 3 year old boy exists. I’ve always been a horror fan. It is my favorite genre in any medium of storytelling. I grew up watching horror movies from a very young age (thanks in large part to my aunt). The first time I watched the masterpiece of horror that was the very 1st SAW film, I fell in love with the franchise.

While in my opinion the 1st movie is easily the best, and I enjoyed 2 and 3 but didn’t care for most of the rest of them outside of them being fun, as a whole I enjoy the franchise. Since seeing this film I became a very big fan of James Wan who I have now watched over the years go from Indie horror directing genius to A list director Magnificense. He deserves all the credit he gets for his movies. If it was not for him, and Leigh Whannell (Sp?) my wife and I never would have met and I wouldn’t have had my son.

I remember watching the ending of SAW the first time and when *Major Spoilers* Jigsaw gets up from the middle of the floor to reveal it has been him the whole time, that moment all the way till he shuts off the lights and slams the door closed on Adam, I was so in love with the film, I had to watch it again right there. I love the irony that came with the fact a horror movie could lead to something so wonderful and change my life forever.

I know I’m rambling but you should know my wife and I met on a SAW fan site & message board that is no longer around. We never would have if it had not been for the creative team and passion put into these films. I’ve told James since how thankful I am for the franchise but I wanted to say it again here (Yes, I’m aware he isn’t on WordPress) thank you from the bottom of my soul. In your own unintended and twisted way, you changed my life permanently and you brought me happiness such as I have never had before. I thank you and the entire team good sir, as I have the most amazing woman in the world and an adorable lil dude because of you.

Cheers! ^_^

Quote Challenge Day 2

“My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”

The quote above means quite a bit to me. It is something (stolen or not) I really take pride in. I have many reasons for this. One being the obvious, which is the men and women who serve everyday to keep us safe. I’m not just talking about soldiers, I’m also talking about anyone who serves their country be they armed forces (thank you for your service) or our EMT’s, fire fighters, dare I say our police men and women who every single day go out and save lives at the risk of their own.

All the mentioned above deserve way more gratitude than they will ever get. How often do you think about those who serve overseas and truly appreciate them? This goes doubly so if you don’t have a family member serving. This isn’t meant to shame or intimidate anyone, I don’t expect you to go into the comments and confess anything, I’m simply wishing for you to really examine and be honest with yourself about this. Is it just during certain holidays you think of them, (if then)? How about our men and women in blue? Are you saying thank you to them, or at the very least being respectful to them?

Perhaps you are out there blaming all of them for a few bad apples problems? We as a nation now, more than ever should take heed to the above lest the below become true.

“United We Stand, Divided We Fall”.

The next time you see someone in uniform please thank them. We as a nation need to come together. We need to stop fighting one another. Do you understand how dumb it is to hate someone because of the pigmentation of their skin? Do you realize not every cop is evil, or racist? Do you realize this generation did not enslave you? Stop blaming one another for past generations sins. Where are the solutions to all the fighting? Where are the people who genuinely care about one another regardless of race, religion, sex, sexual identity, who you sleep with or fall in love with, your nationality, etc.? Don’t claim to care about someone if you are just using them and their plight for your own personal or political agenda.

Now more than ever we need to come together. ISIS and many others out there who hate America, are laughing and fueling the hatred growing and festering in the states. People are blind to this because they are too busy fighting one another. Let us come together now and stand against hatred in all forms, before it is too late. Apologies if they was too preachy but I thought I would share why I care about this nation and those in it so much through the quotes above.

Thank you for your time and have an amazing weekend.

Cheers! ^_^

Quote Challenge Day 1

So I awoke to find I had been nominated to take part in this challenge. I would like to thank Christine Valentor Witch like for nominating me for this challenge. Sorry for the delay Christine I had to go to work. πŸ˜‰
Rules for said challenge go as follows:

1. Thank the person who nominated you.

2. Post 1-3 quotes a day for 3 straight days

3. Nominate 3 bloggers to do the same
I’m going to nominate the following 3:

Phoenix Risen

Dead Donovan

Poet Rummager

The quote I will use for day 1 has been attributed to Winston Churchhill although there is no evidence suggesting it originated with him, and many have used the same or similar quotes. One such use was in the game Modern Warfare 2

The quote is: “History is written by the victors”.
I’m sure you all have heard it or something similar but let me take a moment and explain why I love this quote so much. The main reason is it holds an undeniable truth when used in terms of war. We live in crazy times nowadays, but think back. In WWII, imagine if the Allies had lost. It would be a horrific thing many would believe (myself included). That being said there is another reason I love the quote so much.
Right now, America, we of the good ol USA hold a great deal of power militarily and we use that for better or worse to interfere with many goings on in the world. We are at war right now in many regards. In history books we write ourselves and our allies as the great liberators. We liberated and saved the world together from the great evil that was the Axis powers.
Now as we all know, good and evil is ultimately a matter of perspective. Imagine once again the Axis had won. What do you think their history books would say? Likely something similar. I doubt they saw themselves as evil. They would likely be saying how they changed the world for the better and destroyed the evil rebellion that was the Allies. They would be heroes and we would be villains. Pretty interesting how that works huh?
It is a huge part of why I love the quote. I’m a firm believer in many things. So I imagine there is a parallel universe out there or many where we unfortunately did lose. I like to think their text books say much the same thing. Assuming the world wasn’t wiped out of course for which is another discussion I won’t get into because parallel universes and theories on such is something I could talk about for centuries.
Thank you for your time everyone.
Cheers! ^_^
