Entry 293: Here By The Sea

Here by the sea

Where I sit

The waves go by

The lighthouse is well it

The sound of laughter & cheer

Resonates throughout the day

I watch the children

As they play…

The sun sets

Night comes

I’m more visible,

To living souls.

I drowned on this beach

I’m not sure how many years ago

Now I sit here lost

Hoping someone will notice

I’m gone

Yet so few notice

Those few who do

They treat me like Death

Some kind of threat

A reminder of their mortality

Of what one day they will become

So I sit,

By the sea

Praying for someone

To join me

I just want a conversation again

Someone to share my after life with

I want someone…

Who won’t run.

Here by the sea

I sit alone

I believe the solitude

Is beginning to get to me

I met a girl

The other day

She saw me

At first things seemed fine

Then I had the overwhelming urge

To kill her

She wanted to play

I craved her soul

We played hide n’ seek

Her parents arrived

They asked her

What is it you are doing, sweet daughter?

She told them

Playing a game

With my new friend

She described me beautifully to them.

In that moment

I found myself again

I told her to go home

She should never come back again.

The girl seemed confused

I did not tell her

That precious soul of hers…

Was almost consumed.

Here I sit

By the sea

Something changing

Within me

A man comes near

I feel myself drawn to him

A hunger growing

Deep within.

At first it was loneliness

However, now something has changed.

I’d try to hide myself away

Sometimes I black out

When I awake

I’m by the sea again

Craving the souls

Of the living.

I’m changing

I’m not sure why

Perhaps it’s because

No one discovered my body?

Here by the sea

This is where I sit

I’m forever alone

I’m changing!

The man has come & gone

A woman approaches now too

I can’t however…

It won’t be long now…

A soul I will eventually consume.

Here by the sea

I now read their souls

Like pages from a book

Their story to me is told.

I’d run across nothing but the good

Until last night

I finally found a soul

Worth consuming.

This soul is evil

He beats his wife

I think I’ve found a solution

To my problems.

I’ll just prey upon

The evil ones who come by

Eating their souls

Consuming their lives!

So it is

I come upon this man

Devouring his soul

…Ending his life…

I feel sated

At first things seem fine

Then suddenly I feel a darker craving

Consume me.

It seems, the nature of the soul

Affects my disposition

Am I doomed

To become something horrifying?!

I just wanted company

This isn’t how it was supposed to be!

I thought if I consumed evil

I’d be helping the living!

Now I find

The evil consumed

Grows the darkness inside

The more evil I consume

The more evil I am

Is there a way

To help this darkness end?

Here I sit

By the sea

I see the little girl again

…She sees me…

I tell her to run!

To stay away!

I tell her I’M DANGEROUS!

She says…

…I want you to play with me…

Some part of me takes over

I say yes

Her parents return

I try to fight my urges.

She leaves again

Something is wrong

I feel myself drawn to her.

I silently scream!

Not the little girl

That’s not like me!

Here by the sea

I sit alone

The little girl gone

A woman now approaching

The woman cheats on her husband

Seems good enough for me

I prey upon her soul

My hunger is waning…

The moonlight comes

Soon after it goes

I’ve fed upon another man

Just before daylight

The man, he murdered his wife & kids!

The next morning comes

The next morning goes…

The moon rises now

My hungers once again grows!

It’s more voracious than ever…

I wish I knew a way

This would end well…

Here by the sea

Alone I sit

I can feel her getting closer

The little girl wants to play again.

Soon I hear

Her innocent voice

I…need…to fight…the hunger…

…Once again…

Will you play hide n’ seek?

We should  hurry before my parents catch up to me!

I agree

Yes…we should…

I tell her to hide

She never knowing

She never truly could hide

I can sense her

Wherever she resides.

She runs away

I fight the urges

An hour goes by

Her parents find her

Why did you sneak out again Sophia?!

Such a beautiful name I think to myself…

She cries,

Waves goodbye

I think, it’s going to be okay

I managed to hold on just long enough

…This time…

As they walk

I soon realize

They live in this neighborhood

I find myself

Able to leave the sea side?

I don’t wish to

I’m bound to the sea

As it turns out

I’m powerful enough to go a bit further now

Since they live close to the sea

…It isn’t a problem for me to leave…

I fight the urge

The hunger grows

The souls I’ve consumed

Have made me more powerful.

It seems the connection the girl & I made

When we first met

Has bound us together

In an ironic twist of fate.

I’ve unintentionally latched onto her

In a way…

I arrive at her home

I pray I can’t enter it.

To my surprise

(What good is left within me)

I tried to go through the walls

I can’t though

Still the hunger grows

I feel my soul growing more ravenous as time goes by

I black out

When I awake

I’m tapping on her window.

The little girl has awoken

She’s smiling at me now.

Inside I think

No, please don’t let me in!

Then she says the words

Play with me…

I can no longer stop this

The pain is too immense

I’ve blacked out

Yet I see what happens next

None of that makes sense

It’s like seeing it through another lens…

The parents screamed

I ripped out the fathers heart

I feasted upon it

Before killing the girls mommy!

I stripped the Mothers flesh

From her bones

It used to only be souls

I thought

No longer blacked out

Now I eat the people

As well as their souls

MMmm…this flesh is DELICIOUS!!!!

The last thing I remember

Just before the violent end

Was the sound

Of Sophia’s screams

Then I awoke by the sea

…Once again…

Here by the sea

I sit alone

My once white dress

…Covered in blood…
