Everyone has a story to tell
Some are dark, others romantic
There was one 17 year old named Lily
Her story is endlessly amusing
Maybe it is more of a dark comedy
I find it comedy all the same right up to the gag of an ending
One might say her final act was quite breath taking
Didn’t leave any slack in the rope after falling from the 2nd floor
Ending it all with a SNAP!
Yes, endlessly amusing!
I could tell you all about why
However that part is quite boring
What is interesting is the end!
The end of someone’s story is always quite thrilling!
In Lily’s case it was quite obvious
Here in my library she will permanently reside
Just like good ol’ Clive
That man spontaneously combusted!
One might say his death was quite enlightening?
I crack myself up!
Truth is they are all just victims of this place
Another messed up business
In this black hole known as Black Winter
You can find files on every death here
You see, this is a place of souls
Logged, categorized, and ultimately recorded
This place needs to feed and as The Librarian
It is my job to keep the architecture up to snuff
Everything must be in order you know
From time to time a soul will be drawn here for me to collect
Some are already dead, eventually one must be consumed
A necessary sacrifice to upgrade or simply upkeep this…
…Endlessly hungry beast…
Black Winter Library is a living being
It needs to consume souls, know all their suffering
I once paid a visit to a woman who thought she found an escape
Yes, one from this place?!
The only thing she found in the end
Was the sweet suffering of the blade in my hand
Stabbing her again and again
She cried in pain
I smiled as her blood splattered on my face
It was necessary for she was chosen by this place
She was a soul to be consumed
I hear it’s made whispers inside my mind
Sometimes this place will change its layout entirely
The Library keeps quite the catalog of souls
Ever wonder what happened to your loved one?
With the right access you could find out
That will be the last thing you do though
I can replay anyone’s death, their entire life experience even
Their thoughts and pains
Any given moment of their lives
Like puppets the souls will even reenact everything for you
That however comes at a price
There are many secrets to this dreadfully dark place
No doubt what I tell you now makes little sense
Come by sometime, I assure you, I can help you understand…
Or don’t…I’ll likely come for you soon
If you really want to know the secrets of this town
This is the place they can be found
Good luck leaving with them though
I think you’ll find
This place is full of quite the history
Why would you ever think I would spoil its mystery?
I must go now…
The bell tolls…I must find another soul
This place must be fed
Otherwise I will be next…
-The Librarian-
Kind of reminded me of the old crypt keeper telling the story! Love it!

Thank you! ^_^ If you are referring to Tales From The Crypt, I grew up loving that. If you are just referring to crypt keepers in general, I still love it! Xp
Cheers! 🙂

Wonderful poem, I enjoyed this tale. I like all that’s implied, “Black Winter Library is a living being”. Certainly a wealth of information contained within the walls! After reading this, I couldn’t help but think of, “Book of Jubilees”. 😉 Wishing you a terrific day. ~ Mia

Thank you! I have never read Book Of Jubilee’s. What is it about? I suppose I could just GoogleFu it. You have me intrigued. I’m glad you enjoyed this Entry. I was still awake from insomnia and what not so I was like it’s past midnight, time to write and post Entry 100!
I see midnight as a reset on days even if I post super late the night before.
I hope you are having a completely kick ass Friday! (As in you are kicking ass, not getting your ass kicked).
Cheers! 😉

You’re so welcome. “Book of Jubilees” talks of, “The Book of Life” and “The Book of Death”, essential they’re books of records. I’m imagine that you’re exhausted, although maybe not. Congratulations on Entry 100! I did kick some ass today, I hope you did too! 😉

Okay, that makes sense. Thank you for explaining that for me. I am exhausted but what do you know, I try and lay down but still no nap after all.
So, I’m eating again. I downed like 4 burritos earlier and now I’m doing 2 jumbo hot dogs on buns…my metabolism and appetite are ridiculous! I swear I can eat and eat and it is like it just dissolves into some black hole somewhere on the way to my stomach.
Maybe I should be a competitive eater? Xp I did kick some ass today, and I’m glad to hear you did as well. This Book Of Jubilee sounds interesting. Thank you for sharing information on it.
I hope you are well.
Cheers! ^_^

Well if you can’t sleep at least the food will keep you going! Your own personal black hole. 🙂 “Competitive eater”, laughing, have you ever watched any of those events? Wow! Thank you for the kind wishes. Enjoy! 🙂

I was joking about competitive eating however, yes I have watched many of those events. Problem is, they just make me hungrier! 🙂

Hey you never know. I could have turned around and entered the nearest competition. Xp In this case not, but I like trying those food challenges at restaurants that hold them.

Do you really? If you succeed, do you get a t-shirt or something?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Some do that, others (usually the timed ones) will say if you eat it all within the time limit than you simply don’t have to pay for the food, which is a good thing as those ones are usually pricey if you do.
It depends on the place.

So you’re quite the eater, fast metabolism and everything! Do they at least give you an hour or so?
LikeLiked by 1 person
In the ones I’ve been to and actually tried, they usually give at least an hour. Still, it is usually a crazy amount of food to eat in the limit. Doable, but hard. Some challenges allow you to have multiple people try it at once. Yes, I eat a lot! My son seems to have acquired my appetite but time will tell if he gets the metabolism too.

I hope he gets the metabolism too. I never thought of “appetite” being a trait you can inherit, but it makes sense.

Actually, now that I think about it, I had never thought of it being a trait you couldn’t inherit. You are probably right. It prob isn’t something you inherit…I guess I just think that way. Xp

I think you are right, it’s probably coded on our DNA. I just never gave it much thought. This is a generalization… but we do tend to be like our parents.

I’m pretty sure it is, if I remember my biology correctly. There are all kinds of traits, recessive and dominant. More boring stuff. 😉 Okay, just checked, now the new lingo is “Taste Receptors” haha! *laughing*!!!

Way to drop some lingo on me. ^_^ Oooh, I like to use fancy terminology. I’m not making fun of you, I’m making fun of the people who do that. I remember in biology, thinking why do they create overly hard to pronounce and remember scientific names for things?
My favorite teacher in HS was my Advanced Bio teacher. Dude was great, which is saying something because I had no business being in Advanced Biology. I was a terrible Biology student. 🙂

In our town there are mostly hot wing challenges which only require you to eat like 12 hot wings with ridiculously spicy sauce…There is a challenge with bratwursts, burgers, and a 1lb of cheese fries.
Most of them are just get a picture on the wall of fame things, but it is kind of cool (I guess)…

Okay, so are you on the wall of fame? I think that’s very cool. 😉
LikeLiked by 1 person
No. I haven’t tried anything here. (Guess I’m uncool now). 😉
I like the idea. I have debated trying the hot wing challenges. I’m all about spicy food. I’ve been addicted to spicy stuff since I was about 9 or 10.
So, what kind of food do you like? Any favorite food or type of food. My favorite type of food is Mexican food, but my favorite food is Pizza!

No, not uncool, hahahaha! That’s early for spicy food, at least I think so. I’m not a big foodie, I just eat when I’m hungry. How incredibly boring. 🙂

Well played soul, well played. I definitely don’t find you boring. 🙂

Thank you, haha. How sad, I can’t even come up with a favorite food, I just don’t care. That’s probably why I’m naturally very thin. 😉

Nothing wrong with that. So you aren’t a foodie. It isn’t a bad thing. I’m hungry right now. It’s a blessing and a curse! Xp I’m not a social butterfly but it doesn’t make me a bad person.
I’m much better (most of the time) at conversation when it is just me and one other soul. I find it easier to read people (when in person) and I feel I get a truer feel for their soul as well as who they really are under the mask most souls put up.

I can be either social or antisocial. Antisocial sound kind of scary, haha! Are you a cold reader?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Mmm…if you are referring to being am empath I suppose you could say that. It is much easier to do in person. I have always got a pretty good feel for whether I could trust a soul or not (I trust almost no one), or if they are a threat…weird bits about their past etc. based on simply being around them.
It’s like when you meet someone and you know instantly (in many but not all cases) things about them you can’t explain. Examples being: Their general mood at the time, whether you can trust them, if they are a generally good or bad person in simple cases.
More extreme cases I won’t discuss here. It will make me sound crazier than I already must. Xp That and…some of it gets very personal. If you ever want to discuss that or really anything feel free to email me.
Sorry, there are some things I won’t discuss in a comments section. 😉 Of course now that I’ve rambled forever you could just as likely be like, I wasn’t even talking about that. Xp
If that is the case, feel free to elaborate for my rambling mind. Also my email: sinisterdarksoul@gmail.com if you ever want to chat about anything.
Cheers! ^_^

Ah, now I know the origin of Black Winter. I know some librarians who heartlessly toss out books by local Indies (ind. writers). Maybe they need a field trip there 😦
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh ho ho! Are you suggesting their soul should be eaten in this living library? Interesting. What do you believe the origins of Black Winter to be pray tell?
I’m curious of interpretation. I am not trying to put you on the spot or anything so no worries if you don’t wish to share your thoughts.
I hope you weren’t one of the indie writers who’s book a library tossed out!
Cheers! ^_^

I shouldn’t have used the word “origin.” I’ve seen Black Winter mentioned in other stories (or maybe other comments) and didn’t know what is was. I mean that in this wonderful story, it is identified as a library (may be something different in other stories, not sure). Anyway, enjoying your work so much! And yes, my books get tossed out all the time. Not sure why, although some small towns take exception to those who wear black and black boots in 95 degree weather. So suspicious…

Aww, sorry to hear your books got tossed out. Oh, Black Winter is the name of the town in this case & the library is also named after the town.
I am graciously appreciative that you enjoy my writing. I also am thankful for your taking the time to read what I write and give your thoughts.
Thank you so much! ^_^
